Technology
SR Hybrid Drive
Outstanding fuel efficiency – in some cases up to 45% less fuel consumption than comparably sized mechanical drive wheel loaders – is the result of our exclusive SR Hybrid Drive system.
Utilizing proven Switched Reluctance technology, the SR Hybrid Drive system allows power generation that is fully regenerative, resulting in very efficient wheel loader operation. During braking or retarding, electrical motors become generators and feed power back into the generator connected to the engine. The SR Hybrid Drive system allows for 100% capture and utilization of all braking energy during the loading cycle. Major components of the system include power electronics, motor/generator, control system, and gear train.
By leveraging the speed capability of SR motors, with KESS we’ve created an innovative SR based deep energy storage system that can be used to further supplement peak power demands improving fuel efficiency and reducing overall cycle times. Combining our ability to manage braking energy with bi-directional power flow, we can feed energy into KESS and store significant horsepower. Our control system then lets us meter that available horsepower to supplement the engine, accelerate faster and reduce overall cycle time.
LINCS II network control system
The LINCS II network control system is designed to help operators meet the challenges of even the most demanding surface mining applications. The dash-mounted interactive touch screen displays:
- Instant, real-time feedback, with a wealth of information to adjust performance according to conditions
- Vital statistics, such as bucket height and angle, individual bucket payload, cumulative truck loads, elapsed time per loading cycle, total tons moved, available fuel, vehicle speed, coolant temp, etc.
- An easy-to-interpret graphical format that can be easily configured to meet personal preferences
In addition, LINCS II increases safety by preventing the operator from executing inappropriate commands. For example, LINCS II will prohibit lifting loads that are beyond the safe loading weight. LINCS II then explains, via the interactive screen, allowing the operator to take immediate corrective action without confusion or wasted effort.
